How I got started in insulation
I got into this trade as a helper on a small insulation crew, hauling hoses and bags up attic ladders and learning the work one attic and one crawl space at a time. In 2017 I started Essential Hanahan Spray Foam Insulation here in Hanahan, a small city at the bottom of Berkeley County where plenty of neighborhoods back up to tidal water and the Cooper River.
Most people who call us have a drafty room, a hot room over the garage, a power bill that keeps climbing or a crawl space that worries them, and some are small business owners with a building to insulate. What I care about most is that you understand what you're paying for and why. I'd rather do a job in the right order than do it fast, and I'm happy to explain it twice or sketch it on a notepad until it makes sense.
What you can expect when you call us
I walk the house with you
I'm the one who comes out to look at your attic, crawl space or walls and write the estimate, and I'll explain what I'm seeing in plain words, no matter how many questions you have. Once the work starts, our installers do it and I'm usually right there on the job with them.
Problems underneath come first
Leaks, damp spots and old insulation that's soaked, full of droppings or shouldn't be stirred up get dealt with before anything new goes in, so fresh insulation isn't hiding trouble. If what's up there is dry and still doing its job, I'll tell you adding to it is enough instead of selling you a tear-out.
A written plan, permits included
Your estimate spells out what we'd do, in what order and why, so you can compare it fairly with other bids. Hanahan sits right on the line between Berkeley and Charleston counties and permit rules differ from one office to the next, so we check with the office that covers your address before we start and take care of any permit the job calls for.
